SB 1070 Immigration Law – Viewed as Unconstitutional

On Behalf of | Jan 18, 2011 | What's New |

Arizona’s passage of SB 1070, one of the strongest immigration-enforcement measures in decades, requires local law officials to make a “reasonable attempt” to determine one’s legal status if “reasonable suspicion” exists. Any illegal alien in Arizona is “trespassing” in the state if they are not carrying their alien registration card. It makes it unlawful for illegal immigrants to solicit work or perform any job. It also contains powers to investigate employers for hiring illegal immigrants.

The passage has the possibility of passing through Pennsylvania legislature. In my opinion: “For the reasons I have stated previously, this legislation is an unwise and unconstitutional infringement on the Federal Government’s exclusive authority over issues pertaining to immigration laws,” stated Peter L. Johnston, Esq.
